Chavali Hope McIntosh
As most of you (hopefully) know, each year we hold an annual photoshoot for our Cancer Compassionate line. Learn more here.
With heavy hearts, we share that one of our two models for 2024, Chavali Hope, gained her angel wings on September 12, 2024. We are heartbroken. We only had Chavali in our lives for a short time, but she made a lasting impact.
She was the most joyful, positive person, true to her middle name, "Hope." Out of 455 applicants this year, here are a few things we would like to share that stood out to us about Chavali and why she was chosen, which show her bright personality.
On the application, we ask about any health considerations that may affect travel or logistics for the photoshoot. In her form, Chavali simply wrote, "Just breast cancer." It was the use of the word "just" that struck a chord with us.
When Chavali introduced herself, she said, "Chavali, like tamale!"
She went on to talk about how she didn’t let her diagnosis define her. She didn’t identify with those who make their diagnosis their whole world. She emphasized there’s nothing wrong with that path, but it wasn’t hers. "Just breast cancer" reflected Chavali's bright personality and unwavering perseverance.
When asked if she had any prior modeling experience and if she was comfortable in front of the camera, Chavali responded, "I’m not comfortable in front of the camera, I work the camera!" Her sense of humor and confidence were truly inspiring.
We were fortunate to meet Chavali in person on August 24, 2024, for the photoshoot. She was an absolute joy to be around. We laughed, we danced, we wore boxing gloves, we screamed into the abyss. We cried. It was a wonderful day. She was happy, strong, and felt like a superstar, which is exactly what our Strength and Courage products represent. Chavali, along with our other 2024 model, Michelle Beck, embodied everything we stand for.
Chavali had big plans—for her business, for helping other women, and for her life. She leaves behind a young son and fur babies. Her life was cut tragically short, but we don’t want her big dreams to fade along with her passing.
In a small effort to help her dreams live on, we are honored to donate 50% of all revenue from the sale of Strength and Courage products during the month of October to her family.
While we know this won’t ease the deep loss her family is feeling, we hope to alleviate some of the financial burden that can come with losing a loved one.
We will continue to keep you updated on these efforts and will share more of her beautiful images from the photoshoot.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for any Strength and Courage purchases you make in her memory during October.
