Menopausal Skin Conditions

Menopause is going to happen to all us ladies, but the skin changes it causes don't have to be. The team at Bryght believes that it's important to first understand what peri-menopausal skin is to learn how to break the cycles. Guess what? We aren't gonna take it like our mother did!

Menopause begins one year after your last period and it can bring with it some major changes to the skin. However, with the right care, you can lessen these effects.

Some of the things that you will start to experience with menopause are:

  • Reduced collagen
  • Loss of elasticity
  • Dryness, age spots and hyper-pigmentation
  • Adult Acne
  • Bruising easier than before
  • Rashes and irritations

Studies have shown that women's skin loses approximately 30% of its collagen during the first five years of menopause, and at approximately age 50, the skin's pH levels change as well, which can lead to increased sensitivity.

When I was going through chemotherapy I was pushed into menopause, its wasn't bad enough going through cancer but I was also dealing with night sweats, hot flashes, weight gain but my skincare no longer worked for me. It was a battle of dry, thinning, compromised skin that also came with adult acne and rashes. Nothing worked so I created Courage.  Not only is this product for cancer thrivers but its for anyone whos skin is so beyond sensitive that even water makes it ache.

Even though my skin has changed from menopause and chemo, I feel that with the daily use of courage its all starting to look and feel a little bit more normal, and who doesn't want to feel a little more like themselves again.
